We’re not saying to neglect your gut, colon or overall health!! And for the people who believe this saved them, that’s absolutely praise worthy. 🩷
Colorectal cancer screening matters. But screening and prevention aren’t the same thing. And colonoscopies are way outdated (in our humble opinions). We’d love to see less-invasive pill cam options.
There are other screening options that may be appropriate for”depending on their age, risk factors, symptoms, and medical history. (Talk with a trusted healthcare provider about which option best fits your situation.) But we also need NEW INNOVATIONS.
Common screening alternatives:
• FIT (fecal immunochemical test) – yearly
• High-sensitivity stool blood test (gFOBT) – yearly
• Stool DNA test (FIT-DNA, e.g., Cologuard®) – every 3 years for many average-risk adults
• CT colonography (“virtual colonoscopy”) – about every 5 years… we’d love to see more pill cam options.
We also use the GI Effects stool test in our practice. Tells us SO much about gut health, digestive enzymes +function, the bacterial terrain, inflammation, presence of blood, yeast or other overgrowth, presence of parasites & stagnant stool.
Now let’s talk about what may actually help reduce your risk in the first place:
🌿 Eat more fiber from vegetables, fruit, legumes, and whole foods.
🥦 Aim for a variety of colorful plants each week.
🏃 Move your body consistently.
⚖️ Maintain a healthy weight if possible.
🚭 Don’t smoke.
🍷 Limit or avoid alcohol.
😴 Prioritize restorative sleep.
💩 Don’t ignore chronic constipation, rectal bleeding, or persistent changes in bowel habits.
🦠 Support a healthy gut microbiome with a fiber-rich diet and fermented foods if tolerated.
🩺 Know your family history and discuss earlier screening if you’re at increased risk.
Your daily habits matter. We need a healthcare conversation that’s not only about finding disease earlier but also about creating health long before disease has a chance to develop.

So check in with yourself this beautiful Sunday morning… if you’re struggling with symptoms or health issues, see if they match up to the emotions connected to that part of the body??

This is sneaky business, don’t fall for it! 😎🫣😑
Artificial food dyes have been studied for decades, with research linking certain synthetic dyes to hyperactivity and behavioral changes in some children. Other research has raised questions about oxidative stress and inflammation, and even the C word.😭
If you’re trying to reduce your family’s exposure, reading ingredient labels is a great place to start. Small swaps really do add up. And keep an eye out for these new food dye names. 🌈🥕💛
Give or take a few shots here in there. Regardless, it’s a lot.
💉 💉 💉 At what point can we ask if we’ve quite possibly gone too far down this slippery, money making slope? 😑🫣🤯
