Baked Apple Chips (GF/DF/V)
2 organic apples of any variety/color, washed & dried
2 tsp ground cinnamon
lemon juice (optional)
optional spices: ground nutmeg, pumpkin pie spice, cloves
parchment paper
Preheat your oven to 225F. Line your baking sheet(s) with parchment paper.
To prepare the apples, you can choose to core them or cut as is. (We usually do not core them.) Slice the apples as thinly as possible. Place each apple slice on a lined baking sheet, without overlapping. You can choose to drizzle the apple slices with lemon juice to prevent browning, if desired. We personally like the added “character” :)
Sprinkle the apple slices evenly with chosen spice(s). Bake for 60 minutes. Turn each apple slice over and bake another 50-60 minutes. The longer you bake them, the crispier they’ll get.
Serve immediately and enjoy the flavors of fall!
These taste best if eaten within a day or two, but can be stored in a tightly sealed container for a few extra days.
