Homemade Elderberry Syrup

  • 1/2 C Elderberries

  • 1 Tbsp grated ginger

  • 1.5 Q water

  • Raw honey

Add elderberries, ginger and water to a large pot. Boil for 20 minutes. Mash the berries just a bit using a flat utensil. Strain out the elderberries and ginger while pouring the liquid into your favorite reusable glass container.

Sweeten, if desired, after about 30-45 minutes of cooling time. Our preference is raw honey. We usually add no more than 1/4 C, as we prefer our syrup on the less sweet side. Stir well and refrigerate!

We purchase our Elderberries through Frontier Co-op or a local market or health food store.
